Why I blog about running so much

Three reasons:

1. Amy:Amy

2. Whitney:

 Whitney

3. Heather:

Heather

I have gotten some criticism about writing too much about exercising, and I was told one of my posts even resembled an REI catalog (which it so did.) So I have been curbing the workout talk, but when I read the above posts, I am so full of pride for my friends, such strong women that know we can do anything we put our minds to! And they are not the only ones – Jessica, Crystal, Brandi are among other women that absolutely fall into this category of strong women who show it with running. (they just don’t have blogs)

So I thought I’d log my weekly calories during the 6-week calorie burn challenge TrySports is hosting, that I first mentioned here. Week 1 results are here, Week 2 is here, Week 3 here, Week 4 here, and Week 5 here. If you haven’t already, come out and do the challenge with us - all you need [...]

Calorie burn challenge week 5

So I thought I’d log my weekly calories during the 6-week calorie burn challenge TrySports is hosting, that I first mentioned here. Week 1 results are here, Week 2 is here, Week 3 here, and Week 4 here. If you haven’t already, come out and do the challenge with us - all you need is a heart [...]

The stuff they don’t tell you

Ok, I’m sure that’s not true – runners will talk about anything and everything. But I’ll tell you the unexpected stuff I faced during the Thunder Road Marathon (and training for said marathon.) First, the blood. Yes, blood. Okay, not a lot of blood. But when I got back to the hotel room after the [...]

Calorie burn challenge Week One

So I thought I’d log my weekly calories during the 6-week calorie burn challenge TrySports is hosting, that I first mentioned here. If you haven’t already, come out and do the challenge with us - all you need is a heart rate monitor and the ability to do a group run or walk at TrySports at [...]

One week away …

A week from now I will be picking up my race packet and settling into my hotel room for the evening before getting up before the crack of dawn to run 26.2 miles. And believe it or not, I’m not nervous at all. That’s not to say that won’t change. But as of right now, [...]

Running and socializing at the same time?

Why did it not occur to me before that this would be the coolest thing ever? I went out to TrySports last night for one of their group runs. I can tell you right now why I was always hesitant to do group runs before – performance anxiety. I know that sounds weird. Especially as [...]

Running 20 miles does not make one a party animal

So, it’s Tuesday, and I ran 20 miles on Saturday. Why am I just now writing about it? Because I’m just now recovered! Ok, that’s not really true. I’ve been busy with work and an out-of-town friend visiting also, but I have been on a total runner’s high since that run and I am so [...]

I’m in a workout slump today

I am to run 5 miles. And I just don’t want to. And I have no idea why. It’s about to rain. I should go now, before it gets bad. But I don’t want to. Kevin said he’s in a little bit of a slump too; is it the weather? Or the length of time [...]

I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.

I’m in the calm before the storm. All the practice runs have been run. The playlist on the iPod is complete. I’ve done all the research on carbo-loading and energy gels and hydrating that I know to do to this point. I’ve picked out my outfit. All that’s left to do is run. I’m not [...]
