Yeah, sounds like a good plan Melissa! And if you want to Heather, you can do an internet search for the program From Couch to 5K. I know a couple of people who have tried that and didn’t have any complaints. It’s a good way to get started!

Okay, maybe this won’t be so bad then! That sounds waaay better than jumping rope for 7 minutes, 9 minutes, or however long the sadistic boxing instructor decides. Once I get a new job, maybe I’ll get some running shoes!

In my very unscientific opinion (meaning this is how I did it): Run for a minute without stopping. Once you feel comfortable with that, run for 2 minutes. Then 5 minutes, then 10. Now you’ve run about a mile. If you can run a mile, you can run 2 miles. And so on. … I think there’s a saying somewhere (a book maybe?) that says something like: Run a minute, run a mile, run a marathon. I used to think I “couldn’t run” because I would get side stitches, so I didn’t even try. Jeff convinced me to keep trying – he said my body would figure out how to make it work. And he was right! And if all else fails, you ask my sister what to do. Jenny, do you have any expert knowledge to add?

I will never forget the moment I ran my first mile. It was amazing.
